We care deeply about the impacts the Barn and our business has on the natural environment and wish to tread lightly. We are focused on energy saving without compromising comfort. Willow Tree Barn transforms the elements of water and sun to heat the house passively.
At the Old Mill we have a turbine which generates a small amount of electricity (about 7khw per hour) which supplements heating inside the Mill.
We hope that as a guest here you will help us in our aim to become even greener!
We are committed to responsible and sustainable working. We are currently taking the following measures to help protect the environment.
* We have installed a Klargester Sewage Treatment Plant.
* We use refillable pump dispensers for shampoos/soaps etc rather than miniature bottles.
* Reducing waste.
* Recycling almost everything, reusing and composting.
* Using solar panels for water heating.
* Water sourced under floor heating heats the ceramic tiles throughout.
* Cleaning and washing using eco friendly products
* Using low energy light bulbs, solar powered external lights.
* Purchasing local, organic and Fairtrade product.
* Promoting public transport.
* Promoting local and green organisations such as Wiltshire Wildlife

RECYCLING YOUR RUBBISH
We provide recycling bins for glass, paper and plastics.
Locally we can recycle plastics with the codes 1, 2 & 3.
We have a Wormery to the left of the backdoor will accept ordinary kitchen waste such as peelings, cooked and uncooked scraps, tea bags, eggshells, paper kitchen towels, even shredded newspaper etc. In fact virtually any organic kitchen waste can go into a Wormery. The worms will even eat their way through shredded newspaper, egg cartons and toilet roll tubes!
